History of Independence Day

fireworksHAPPY 4th OF JULY!

This History.com video has some interesting tidbits. I didn’t know, for example, that both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died July 4th, 1826, the 50th anniversary of U.S. Independence. The celebration first became a paid federal holiday in 1938.
